COURSE REFLECTION

The semester was a whirlwind of learning new things and learning from my mistakes. As someone who wants to get into the publication industry having already submitted works in other student publications, I hope to one day take my learning to the next level and make a publication with friends someday. I appreciate the craft and effort taken to making these books and it's fully rewarding seeing it physically in your hand and seeing everyone's elses' works on the table was so lovely to see.

I'm quite proud with what I produced and although it slightly deviated from my initial wishes (initially I wanted everything riso printed and laser cutted) i've learnt to just make do with the resources around me and prioritise certain tasks to suit the timeline (and my budget) better. Important takeaways I took from the class was to ALWAYS TEST PRINT and always get more than you need because there will always be bumps along the way and it's hard to improvise with limited resources.

I feel more confident now learning the ways to get into the industry and becoming more active in the space through attending events, workshops and bookshops. I have a small network of creatives around me and knowing how much importance is placed on the people you know, I'd start with all my friends and work my way up to developing my skills and submitting to online magazines. It will be a slow process but i'm very excited to see where the next steps after graduation will take me.

P.S I hope you enjoyed this fun and silly little website which took much more longer than I expected as I had 0 coding experience before starting. I mainly chose this indie web format as a continuation of my last issue which ended with Internet lore. As stories become circulated online through reddit threads, podcasts and websites such as these.
